Technician (Repair & Overhaul) - 2nd shift

Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Technician (Repair & Overhaul) - 2nd shift.

The hourly rate for this position is $34.00 - $45.00 per hour. The hours for 2nd shift are as follows 1:45 pm - 10:15 pm.

Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

What you’ll do:

Assemble, teardown, test and troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies of simple to most complex product line that includes commercial and military. Will be required to work on unusual work where standard or recognizable methods and processes may not be available.


Reports to the Production Supervisor/Manager in CSO. Will also receive direction from department lead.


Essential Functions:

Teardown, assemble, troubleshoot and test mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and top assemblies.  Ensure activities are performed correctly and proper tooling and documentation is used. Requires little to no supervision.Organize data and prepare test reports.Perform lock wire/safety wire and nameplate.Must have the ability to utilize hand tools such as, but not limited to, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers, lockwire pliers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, flow meters, multimeters, test boxes, set-up and use of XY plotter, oscilloscopes or specialized test equipment as needed. Proficient interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams, testing schematics, verbal, and/or written instructions.Perform cross training when required.Material preparation including lapping of surfaces with proper tooling techniques and compounds.Perform visual inspection, identify any defective items and handle according to established procedures. May perform acceptance tests on repaired, modified, and returned units from customer. Lead customer evaluations and testing as required.Determine when and if Engineering Change Order (ECO) is required and will work with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering department to implement assembly and test procedures.Use test equipment to perform in process testing and final Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) and Component Maintenance Manual (CMM).May be required to create and modify test fixtures.May act as department representative in customer audits/visits.Drive and initiate process improvements within hardware and test equipment which includes detection and isolation of performance discrepancies at each phase of assembly. May require working with Manufacturing and Quality EngineersUnderstand basic concepts behind Lean and how to apply them.Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling is in calibration before use.May retrieve items from stockroomMaintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulationsOther duties as assigned. May be temporarily reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
•    High School diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited institution is required.
•    Minimum of 6 years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing 
•    Minimum of 6 year’s experience in assembly and testing of hydraulic and electromechanical control valves and knowledge of hydraulic test equipment. 
•    No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered for this position.
•    Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
•    This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
•    Eaton will consider for employment, qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the FCIHO.
 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Minimum of 8 years’ assembly and test experience in aerospace manufacturing
•    Electric Static Discharge certification.
•    Associates degree in technical field.
•    Soldering experience
•    A&P License
•    Experience working in an FAA environment

Skills:

Position Criteria
•    Ability to read assembly blueprints, wiring diagrams and testing schematics.
•    Knowledge of shop, mechanical and electrical test equipment and testing procedures and the ability to test a variety of assemblies/sub-assemblies.
•    Knowledge of military and commercial platforms
•    Ability to work with inspection and force gages, multimeters, torque wrenches, and production test equipment including experience set-up of XY plotter, oscilloscopes, and pressure transducer.
•    Ability to work from written and verbal instructions.
•    Ability to troubleshoot 
•    Knowledge of Eaton production units or similar electromechanical products by acquiring in-depth product knowledge through testing and evaluation of units to identify failures.
•    Ability to retain knowledge of units produced. 
•    Ability to cross train on a variety of hardware/sub-assemblies.
•    Ability to effectively communicate and interact with other departments and organizations.
•    Ability to accumulate and record data to support process improvement idea(s).
•    Ability to push, pull and lift up to 25 lbs.
•    Ability to read and write English. 
•    Computer proficiency. 
•    Attention to detail
•    Willing to perform repetitive tasks while sitting or standing for extended periods of time
•    Required computer skills for processing and analysis of data.
•    Ability to lead team meetings in process improvements.
•    Ability to fill-in for department lead as needed
