TECHNICIAN X RAY-WAKEFIELD U

Under the direction of the chief technologist or his/her designee, performs radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.  Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

 

Performs visual, and documents, QA/QC and preventive maintenance checks, records and reports results to appropriate personnel. Initiates service of equipment when necessary. Knowledge of RIS system. Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all radiological equipment within their assigned area.

 

Education and Requirements:

Associates degree and satisfactory completion of a formal two year radiologic technology training certified program. NYS X-Ray License and Certified by the ARRT.  Minimum of 2 years experience in a radiological environment. Must have the strength necessary to position, lift immobile patients and move bulky equipment. Must also be able to walk and position oneself around procedure table and to stand through procedures while wearing a lead apron. Must have good vision to see the screen and differentiate abnormal to normal anatomy and variance in pathology. Must be able to communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers, patients and family members.
