Technologist, Quality & Food Safety

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:The Q&FS technologist is responsible for ensuring all relevant Q&FS standards are implemented and continuously improved to assure quality and food safety at the local site, protecting the consumer and our brands. Work with operations, maintenance, logistics, and the business unit (regulatory, product development, nutrition, consumer care team) to assess and manage risk associated with quality and food safety concerns. Have in-depth knowledge of the plant layout and the product flow and processesSupport the site based internal audit program to ensure all processes and procedures are managed in accordance with corporate Quality and Food Safety Standards, Business Unit QFS directives and FDA regulations.Responsible associate for the site holds management systems (SAP/Nexus) ensuring requirements and procedures including product disposition and destruction are in accordance with Mars Quality and Food Safety Standards and Business Unit directives.Lead root cause analysis session for product related incidents (PRIMPS) and make recommendations to correct issues.Back up for PRIMP incident owner.Lead the consumer and customer complaints investigations process ensuring follow up in appropriate timings and recommend actions to site QFS Manager.Food Safety Representative for site HACCP Team.Lead the food safety risk assessment process for all changes such CAB, new products/pack/process and or new regulations/standards that impacts QFS.  Document all approved changes as per Business Unit requirements.Provide training on relevant food safety standards to supply associates.

Knowledge / ExperienceWorking knowledge of petfood processing and packagingAbility and aptitude to work in an R&D, Quality/Food Safety and/or Manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Systems (HACCP), Regulatory Guidelines, and/or SensoryExperience and/or exposure to thermal processing activities preferredKnowledge of GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000Verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally

Education and Professional Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience in a food manufacturing site managing quality and food safety management systems or similar experiences in regulatory or nutrition services

            Key Functional Competencies and Technical Skills

Knowledge of the Windows working environment including Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong oral, listening, and written communication skills in order to communicate with all levels of the organizationExcellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.Excellent interpersonal skills
