Job Function
The following job function statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. The job function statements reflect expectations of the fully trained, proficient incumbent who meets all performance criteria and standards.
Supports the Parts Quality Engineering Department by measuring production/trial parts for dimensional accuracy. Interfaces with engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure measurements are performed in compliance with established guidelines.
1.) Operates various metrology measuring equipment daily.
2.) Creates layout reports and generates layout forms for production and new project vehicle bodies and parts using various PC Software.
3.) Researches nominal data points for bodies and parts in CAD (Computer Assisted Drafting) systems.
4.) Programs automatic CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) such as Bridge type and Portage Arm type for parts and vehicle body layouts.
5.)Performs manual machine layouts on production and new project trial parts and bodies.
6.)Calibrates manual layout machines, free angle probes, mics, calipers, gauge blocks, gauge pins, etc.
7.) Follows ISO9000 and ISO 14000 procedures to include generating and maintaining files and records to ensure compliance with equipment calibration standards.
8.) Manage lab budget, suggest knew equipment for streamlined measurement techniques.
9.) As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above are representative.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.
1. Job Knowledge and Skill: Working knowledge of metrology measuring equipment. Ability to perform manual layouts and calibrate manual layout machines. Good verbal communication skills. Basic knowledge of ISO9000 and ISO14000 guidelines. Ability to adhere to standard safety guidelines and procedures. Basic understanding of blueprints. Good organization and interpersonal skills.
2. Experience: Three to five years of progressive professional level experience in a related field required.
3. Experience in GD&T, Tolerance Stack, and general parts layout.
4. Have skill in using metrology tools such as CMM, Romer Arm, laser scanners, hardness testers, optical comparators, Keyence measuring etc.
5. Education: High school diploma or GED required.
6. Computer Skills: Required working knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications, or Mainframe applications, etc. to produce non-standard, creative products.
