Technology Engineer - Quincy, IL

Position Summary:
The Technology Engineer is responsible for leading optimization, innovation and capex portfolio management within an operating area. The Technology Engineer reports into the plant organization and is a key stakeholder in plant performance.  The Technology Engineer should be a subject matter expert on processing systems and technology in their area, and is a core member of the site operations leadership team. The Technology Engineer is leader in collaboration with the commercial teams and R&D on identifying and deploying new technologies and systems for growth and improvement of our business.
This role is a site-based role, located at the Quincy Soy Crush facility on the Quincy Complex.  The position reports into the site.  The position supports 2 Soy Extraction Plants, a Lecithin refining facility, and both liquid and grain handling & storage operations.   Loading and Unloading areas include barge, rail and truck operations for both liquid and dry material loading & unloading.

Essential Job Functions:Drive a culture of Environmental Health & Safety and Food Safety & Quality by partnering with operations team on technology solutions.Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement by integrating Performance Excellence in how work is done at all levels of the site & participating in PE activities.CAPEX planning, prioritization and tracking. Active participation in the portfolio management process.Guide and drive the technical scope for capex projects.Actively participate with operations leadership in the development of site capital budgeting.Manage and prioritize the Wave portfolio in cooperation with the Plant Manager.Drive accountability of initiative and project execution.Support the prioritization of the project portfolio in cooperation with the Plant Manager, business stakeholders, ADM COE pillars, and the Technology Director.Support plant projects including the FEL process. This could also include oversight of contract engineers.Function as manufacturing technology resource for plant operations leaders.Actively participate in the operations performance management, Review & Response processes.Implement and track performance metrics to maintain or improve the effectiveness of operating assets.Develop process knowledge required to guide plant engineers in the optimization of unit operations and the achievement of production targets. This includes training, coaching and mentoring of site personnel.Champion initiatives related to the design, development, implementation and maintenance of automation, process control and optimization applications.Participate in the development of SOPs, MOCs, Controls Narratives, and commissioning for specialized equipment that is specified by the Technology group.Assist your site team with the diagnosis of operational difficulties and provide recommendations for corrective action, ensuring corrective actions are sustainable and built into process.Proactively collaborate with all ADM Centers of Excellence to drive results.Required Skills:General knowledge of software applications and willingness to learn and utilize new applications as needed.Controls and plant automation knowledge or experience.Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others.Strong knowledge of a variety of process unit operations. Some examples include: extraction, distillation, extrusion, evaporation, drying, grinding and centrifugation.Experience with optimization/analytical processes and tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with plant engineers and management.Working knowledge of common process drawings and documentation, such as P&IDs and control narratives.This role will spend time daily in the field – it is a requirement to tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and ability to move through close spaces.Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently.High level of motivation and results-oriented way of working.Availability as a resource during non-business hours, as site support may be necessary.Less than 10% travelRequired Education:Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical.Required Experience:Minimum 3 years’ experience with plant process systems in the food, Biofuels and Ag processing industries preferred.Desired Experience:Operations supervision and/or experience as a Process/Project Engineer.Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
