Position Overview:
The Assistant Technology Mechanic is responsible for performing scheduled inspections, repairs, and maintenance on electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. This role involves troubleshooting issues, utilizing various hand and power tools, and assembling electronic sub-assemblies. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to read schematics, contributing to the efficient operation of equipment. Collaboration and effective communication within a multi-disciplined team are essential for success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and analyze technical problems effectively.
+ Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts, utilizing hand tools and power tools.
+ Reads and interprets parts manuals and schematic drawings to identify necessary components and work procedures.
+ Opens and closes assigned work orders efficiently.
+ Installs and adjusts electronic monitoring equipment, ensuring proper fitting to various systems.
+ Performs troubleshooting and repair of electrical components, including diagnostic testing.
+ Modifies installations of electronic monitoring equipment and conducts safety equipment testing.
+ Conducts inventory of Electronic Technology Parts components.
+ Responds promptly to emergency calls at fuel stations.
+ Exhibits strong communication skills and collaborates effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Exceptional attention to detail.
+ Proficiency in relevant computer applications such as Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
+ Effective communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing tasks.
+ Familiarity with using hand tools not limited to screwdrivers, socket wrenches, and specialized mechanic tools, cut-off saws, drills, portable band saws, skill saws, air impact wrenches, grinders, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ One to two years’ experience working with electronics (GPS, Wiring, basic schematics) is highly preferred.
+ Experience with prototype fabrication, assembly, testing and reporting is a plus.
+ TWIC Card (and/or the ability to obtain a TWIC Card) preferred, but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is performed in an industrial setting in locations such as an industrail park, warehhouses, terminals, ports, and logistics hubs. This role requires the ability to work safely and effectively in this type of setting and role requires mobility and manual dexterity to navigate an industrial environment, including the use of standard office equipment. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in person and via radio or phone and have the vision to read various materials and inspect safety signs. Physical tasks include lifting to 25 pounds, using ladders and power tools, and performing fieldwork in various weather conditions while being exposed to noise, dust, and machinery. This role requires the ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully in accordance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards along with the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
