Technology Program Manager - Scrum Master

Job Summary
This role is responsible for managing and leading multiple programs, developing program strategy, and driving innovation. The role collaborates with relevant stakeholders to keep them informed of program progress, escalations, and evaluates program plans for compliance. The role proactively identifies areas of continuous improvement and implements changes in products, processes, or business practices as required. 

In addition, this role will perform the role of a Scrum Master. Scrum master will be responsible for facilitating and guiding agile practices within the team, ensuring adherence to the Scrum framework and SAFe principles. This role involves coaching team members, removing impediments, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to achieve high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities
• Manages and leads key programs involving multiple functions and program teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for multiple products or service offerings for a Global Business Unit. Directs the development of overall program strategy, budgets, resource allocation plans, and general program requirements for the Global Business Unit.
• Manages activities of supporting program teams and internal and external development partners; ensures alignment with unit strategy and owns responsibility for overall program profit and loss management.
• Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborates with business unit management and internal manufacturing and development partners to recommend and implement changes to products, processes, or business practices to drive continuous improvement and manage program costs.
• Monitors and enforces project schedules and quality with vendors or subcontractors.
• Works with engineering project managers, product design, operations, to identify and resolve the risks associated with early builds.
• Drives innovation and integration of new technologies and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the manufacturing engineering organization.
• Reviews and evaluates program plans and guidelines for compliance with program management guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve overall program management quality and results for the organization.
• Coordinates with management to ensure proper procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment.
• Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of program management innovation and excellence.

Scrum Master Responsibilities:

Facilitate Agile Ceremonies:

Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Ensure all Scrum events are productive, time-boxed, and focused on achieving sprint goals.

Coach and Mentor:

Guide the team in self-organization and cross-functionality.

Provide coaching on Agile principles and SAFe practices to team members and stakeholders.

Mentor team members to enhance their Agile skills and foster a collaborative environment.

Remove Impediments:

Identify and remove obstacles that hinder the team's progress.

Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and stakeholders to resolve dependencies and issues.

Support Product Owner:

Assist the Product Owner in managing the product backlog and defining clear and concise user stories.

Facilitate effective communication between the Product Owner and the development team.

Promote SAFe Principles:

Advocate for and implement SAFe principles and practices within the team and organization.

Ensure alignment with SAFe's Lean-Agile principles, including taking an economic view, applying systems thinking, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Foster Continuous Improvement:

Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives and implementing action items.

Track and analyze key metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive team performance.

Collaboration and Communication:

Foster open communication and collaboration within the team and with external stakeholders.

Ensure transparency and visibility of team progress through effective use of Agile tools and practices.



Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

• Typically has 15+ years of work experience, preferably in legacy modernization, digital transformation using SAFe (Scaled Agile Transformation), Lean portfolio management, and product management for IT operational efficiency and excellence.

Certification: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and SAFe Agilist (SA) or equivalent strongly preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment with IT product management strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Broad IT, infrastructure, and business applications background

Experience managing complex legacy modernization programs working with cross functional teams

Experience managing SOX IT General controls and compliance initiatives

Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SAFe principles.

Excellent facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Ability to identify and remove impediments effectively.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Agile, and DevOps tools such as Jira, GitHub, Confluence, or similar.
