The opportunity:

This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of monitoring, assurance and reporting of Risk within the assigned business unit of AIA NZ. They will support the Line 1 Risk team in embedding the end-to end risk framework across AIA NZ and help implement risk standards to support the achievement of AIA NZ’s strategic objectives.

This involves providing services that supports business units in effectively identifying, monitoring and managing risks that may impact on business strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

Implement and monitor the risk and control framework, key risk metrics, risk policies and governance activities.

Deliver/support a fit for purpose assurance program over the local adoption, implementation and adherence to Group and local Risk related policies, standards and guidelines.

Proactively support governance structures and monitor adherence to Group and AIA NZ Risk Policies to ensure they deliver to their responsibilities for managing Risks.

Work closely with stakeholders to instil and strengthen ownership of risk and controls for Risk within the First Line and wider organisation. This includes support to solve problems and enhance the control environment.

Develop and maintain strong advice based relationships with teams across the business to support adoption of Group’s Risk Appetite, developing local Risk Tolerances and Risk Limits. This includes facilitating information sharing and awareness of results.

Contribute to business planning processes, and report material exposures to Group through oversight of projects and other activities that may impact the local Risk profile.

Contribute to the local emerging risk identification process based on the Group’s methodology by leading or participating in deep dives for areas of inherent or emerging risk, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to mitigate risk exposures.

Support and manage the identification, assessment and resolution of issues and incidents.

Undertake continuous business monitoring activities for the Risk Profile to enable challenge of the robustness of the implementation of Group and local risk management frameworks.

Support delivery of a control assurance programme using the Group’s RCA methodology, to systematically identify and assess key risks and controls accounting for potential and actual risk outcomes.

Monitor internal and external audit issues to ensure completion of required actions by agreed dates. Engage and coordinate between with external auditors and internal stakeholders to achieve deliverables.

Perform Risk in Change assessments over key projects and change initiatives

Assist assigned business unit with managing its Business Continuity Management (BCM) requirements.

Contribute to the Risk reporting requirements set by the Group, Board, Risk Committees, and regulators; and ensure timely submission of the reports.

Undertake reviews and/or deep dives where required and provide insightful analysis and recommendations to mitigate any risk exposures.

Drive, promote and demonstrate “doing the right thing” and encourage colleagues to “speak up” when they need to.

Foster a safe and open environment that ensures that Risk Management and Compliance requirements are met and all matters, issues and incidents are remediated in a timely manner.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

Proven experience in risk management, quality/control assurance or audit, in the financial services industry, such as COBIT and ITIL.

Financial services knowledge and experience.

Proven ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Relevant Tertiary qualification in a related business discipline
