Description

The Technology Support Specialist is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $21.69 - $23.86 per hour (equivalent to $45,115 - $49,628 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy. This particular role will be primarily stationed at the Public Safety Building to assist Departmental Systems Analysts in public safety. Initial training for the role will be conducted at Information Technology in City Hall and is expected to last approximately two to three months.
As a Technology Support Specialist, you'll:
+ Install and troubleshoot workstations, printers, mobile devices, VOIP phones, AV equipment, and other similar equipment;
+ Replace defective parts and repair and clean equipment and components, as needed;
+ Perform general preventative maintenance, as needed;
+ Install and update operating systems and application software;
+ Install network wiring, as needed;
+ Assist users in the effective use of applications by responding to user questions;
+ Attend training, seminars, and conferences to maintain/enhance current subject matter knowledge;
+ Participate in on-call status when response to off-hours situations is needed.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate's/Technical degree or appropriate certification in information systems/technology, math, or a related field and minimal experience troubleshooting personal computers and networks. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement.
+ Valid driver's license.
+ Availability and willingness to participate in on-call status when response to off-hours situations is needed.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
+ DMV Driving Record Review;
+ Criminal Background Investigation;
+ Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) Screenings: Fingerprinting, VCIN Database Query, and Security Test.*
*Due to the sensitive nature of information available through the performance of this position's essential functions, the successful applicant selected for the role will be required to submit to these screenings required by the Virginia Criminal Information Network.
