Telecom Engineer I

JOB SUMMARY

The Telecom Engineer 1 is part of the Information Technology Infrastructure team and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our telephony network and ancillary systems which provide services to multiple locations. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service to our employee’s, patient care areas, and will specifically be responsible for the installation, integration, support and administration of the voice network, fax, eFile, and telecom network.

PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:

Maintains all technology related to communications within the health system including VoIP, PBS, service providers, mobile, voice mail, fax, eFiling, and others as directed. Configure, install, and troubleshoot telephone, fax, and other related equipment. Develop, maintain, catalog, and publish Telecom administration and support documentation. Planning and execute system configuration changes with a wide range of contacts including IT, WhidbeyHealth stakeholders, utility company personnel, construction crew members and other as required to coordinate telecommunications systems upgrades and maintain system functionality in general. Provide user support via HELP Desk mechanisms including documentation of issues and resolution, and identification of appropriate staff for resolution. Assists with installing, maintaining and repairing the network and computer systems and equipment. Participates in on-call rotation and HELP DESK responsibilities. Develop, maintain, and implement telecommunications disaster recovery plans. Develop and implement end user training programs. Provide user support related to moves, adds, and changes. Monitor, analyze, and report on system performance. Manage user access to systems and equipment as needed. Work closely with plant operations staff in planning future needs.

JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field preferred; or AA technical degree a minimum of two years’ experience in telecom and technical support.

Training and Experience

A minimum of 2 years’ telecom, systems or network administrator or engineer experience with PBX, VoIP, call routing, ISDN, and/or call center. Experience with Mitel, a plus. Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.    Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization. A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment. Dependable and flexible when necessary.

Ability to accurately input alpha and numeric data entry with a high degree of efficiency and meet deadlines. Demonstrated skill in utilizing computer applications. Ability to organize work with strong attention to detail. Wage Range: $73,500 - $100,000
