Summary About the Position: Serve as a senior telecommunications specialist performing a wide variety of design and technical functions involving the accomplishment of major facility and plant telecommunications engineering projects. Responsibilities Perform telecommunications such as: transmissions, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems. Track developments and new applications of IT (hardware, software, telecommunications), emerging technologies. Solve problems by identifying problems; determining accuracy and relevancy of information; using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and making recommendations. Manage information by identifying a need; gathering, organizing, and maintaining information; determining importance and accuracy, and communicating it by a variety of methods. Perform 5-year radio frequency reviews. Implement projects dealing with telecommunications installations, upgrade of existing facilities, and/or modifications to existing plants/facilities. Provide technical assistance to operating personnel to resolve installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair problems on a regular and recurring basis. Develop planning documentation to translate approved communications requirements into funded programs and projects. Additional Information The U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Among other features, the Demonstration Project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The band NH-03 is equal to the former GS-12 Step 01 through GS-13 step 10. ATEC uses salary control points to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $137,000 including locality.
