For detailed information regarding the 55-a Program, please visit the following link https://www1.nyc.gov/site/dcas/employment/55-a-program.page Compensation Telecommunications Associate I (Data) TA: $53,243 - $80,479 Telecommunications Associate II (Data) TA: $74,291 - $96,576 Telecommunications Associate III (Data) TA: $79,839 - $96,576 Telecommunications Associate IV (Data) TA: $96,243 - $130,629 TA is represented by DC-37 Telecommunications Associate I (Data) OA: $55,943 - $84,562 Telecommunications Associate II (Data) OA: $78,061 - $101,477 Telecommunications Associate III (Data) OA: $83,889 - $101,477 Telecommunications Specialist I (Data) OA: $93,676 - $110,408 Telecommunications Specialist II (Data) OA: $101,170 - $119,244 Telecommunications Specialist III (Data) OA: $109,262 - $127,141 OA is represented by NYCT-TRANSPRT WRKRS UNION L100 Responsibilities + Under general supervision, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing telecommunication contracts guided by NYCT’s standards, guidelines, and codes. + The selected candidate will manage contracts throughout the design, construction, and commission phases; ensure all divisions and stakeholders’ requirements are addressed; verify new assets are turned over to operations with the required resources for maintenance per contract agreements. + Telecommunication systems utilized may include but not limited to Public Announcement, Intercoms, Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, Wireless Radio, PSLAN, Help Point, Fiber and Copper infrastructure, Layer 2/3 Network, PBX, Emergency Alarms, Head End Hardware, and Software Applications. Additionally, the selected candidate will support all telecommunication installations, upgrades, data configuration/provisioning, remote monitoring; maintaining and updating documentation; testing, analysis, and reporting. + As a member of the EMD Contract Compliance group representing in-house maintenance groups, the incumbent will also provide technical support, training, and knowledge transfer, as required. Education and Experience Telecommunications Associate I – IV (Data) 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a scientific, technical, technical, electronic or related area and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a data telecommunication or closely related electronics planning, electronics management, and/or electronics service environment; or 2. An associate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a scientific, technical, electronic, or related area and two years of experience described in "1" above; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and three years of experience described in "1" above; or 4. A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. College education not used for meeting the minimum requirements in "1" or "2" above may be substituted for experience on the basis of six months of experience as described in "1" above for 30 semester credits of college education including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a scientific, technical, electronic or related area for a maximum of two years of experience. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one year of experience described in "1" above. Special Note - Additional Requirements for Assignment Level IV To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level IV individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, at least two additional years of full-time experience as follows: 1) As a Telecommunications Associate (Data) Assignment Levels I, II, and III working for the City of New York; or 2) Performing analytical, planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a data telecommunications, electronics planning, electronics management, and/or electronics service environment, one year of which must have been specialized work in a consultative or supervisory capacity. Telecommunications Specialist I – III (Data) 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area and three years of satisfactory full-time experience in the performance of analytical, planning, operational, technical, and/or administrative duties in a data telecommunications or closely-related electronics planning, electronics management, and/or electronics service environment, one year of which much have been specialized work in a consultative or supervisory capacity; or 2. An associate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area and four years of experience as described in “1" above, one year of which much have been specialized work in a consultative or supervisory capacity; or 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in “1" above, one year of which much have been specialized work in a consultative or supervisory capacity; or 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to “1", “2" or “3" above. College education may be substituted for experience on the basis of six months of experience as described in “1" above for each 30 semester credits of undergraduate college education including or supplemented by 6 semester credits in data telecommunications/networking or in a pertinent scientific, technical, electronic or related area. Desired Skills + Experience and understanding in telecommunications systems. + Experience managing design/construction contracts. + Telecommunications and Data Networks experience. + Working knowledge of EMD communications assets. + Knowledge of Section 19 and 20 of the NYCT communications specifications. + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. + Ability to coordinate, schedule, and prioritize meeting deadlines. + Experience in fiber optic and low-voltage copper cabling technologies and the use of its related test equipment Selection Method: Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
