The **Telecommunications Engineer II** is an experienced professional providing engineering services to develop new and maintain existing communication systems for Cleco. Responsible for the preparation of equipment, service specifications and drawings for equipment field installations that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems. Manage network devices related to the Field area networks, devices ranging from radios, switches, routers, wireless and access points. Maintain telecommunications equipment and services databases all while ensuring compliance with all FCC and regulatory required policies. Track expenditures for capital projects and prepare and submit budgets for capital and O&M projects.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Develop Cleco configuration standards and deployment templates for field assets and network devices related to Microwave, 2-way radio, TDM, IOT (LTE), and distribution communications equipment.
+ Responsible for the creation and updating of all network drawings and diagrams related to the network and field equipment.
+ Communicate project status and deployment strategies for all field deployments to the network teams as well as management and financial teams.
+ Ensures current field systems never reach obsolescence through continuous review, planning, and updating of that equipment.
+ Provides technical execution of defined activities to support the delivery of sub function initiatives required to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation objectives.
+ Collaborates with all areas of IT (Operations, Cyber Security, Applications, Project Management) and business units to design an overall roadmap supporting current and future business initiatives.
+ Works with proven vendors and circuit providers to deliver needed bandwidth services to support business needs.
+ Detailed analysis of tower systems and loading thereof, to include additional radio equipment and dish/antenna support.
+ Conducts path studies to determine best possible path for reliability, stability, and performance of the field equipment.
+ Responsible for the tracking and acquisition of FCC regulations and Cleco’s licensing, this to include researching and purchasing Frequencies as needed.

**Qualifications**
**Required Education, Skills & Experience**
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET approved curriculum or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with certification by the NCEES to sit for the FE exam. (Telecommunications Engineering preferred).
+ 3-5+ years of related experience (microwave radio systems, ancillary systems, path engineering, and data networking concepts and technologies preferred)
+ Step progression levels based on skill proficiency and scope of job.
+ Strong business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry
+ Strong knowledge of leading practices for their practice area
+ Strong planning and project management skills
+ Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
+ Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
