The Telecommunications Mechanic II at Ft. Johnson is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems. This role requires a skilled technician who can work independently and as part of a team to ensure the effective operation of communication systems in a high-security environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nInstallation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including switches, routers, and communication lines.\nTroubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to telecommunications systems.\nSystem Upgrades: Perform upgrades and updates to equipment and software as required to keep systems current and secure.\nDocumentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs. Update system documentation and schematics.\nCompliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with security protocols and standards, including DOD 8140 compliance.\nCollaboration: Work closely with other IT and security personnel to coordinate efforts and ensure the smooth operation of telecommunications systems.\nEmergency Response: Provide support for emergency situations and system outages, including on-call duties as required.\n\nQualifications:\n\nEducation: High School diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or related field preferred.\nExperience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance, with demonstrated expertise in handling complex systems.\nSkills:\n\nProficient in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment.\nStrong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.\nKnowledge of security protocols and DOD 8140 requirements.\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.\n\n\nCertifications: Relevant telecommunications or technical certifications are advantageous.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nAbility to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.\nAbility to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.\n\nOther Requirements:\n\nMust possess and maintain a Secret Clearance.\nCompliance with DOD 8140 standards and ongoing professional development in telecommunications.\n\n
