Telecommunications Mechanic II
**Overview** Bowhead seeks a Senior Telecommunications Mechanic to join our team supporting the program office for NSWC Corona – Corona Division in Norco, California. The Junior Telecommunications Mechanic will work directly for program leadership in analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments within a scaled agile environment. Corona Division is the Navy’s premier independent assessment agent responsible for gauging the warfighting capability of Navy ships and aircraft by assessing weapons and integrated combat systems’ performance, readiness, quality, and supportability. The telecommunications mechanic will support the program office in telephone technical infrastructure supporting Corona Division operations. **Responsibilities** • Provide strategy and updates to Corona Division leadership on telecom equipment operational status • Forecast telecom technical requirements to the Program Manager and Corona Division leadership • Install, remove, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair voice and/or nonvoice communications systems including intercom and public address systems; alarm systems; teletype equipment; and electronic and electro mechanical telephone key systems/PBAXs; terminal and communications equipment, including modems, multiplexers, fiber-optic end equipment, T1-carriers, and line drivers • Independently survey the installation area to determine work methods, tools, and materials required to accomplish the project • Independently review work orders and layout sheets to select equipment and circuits required • Install and terminate copper core and/or fiber optic house cables • Run cables, key cables, or house wire to all telephone sets, terminal connectors, lugs, pins, or screws, associated with key telephone equipment and/or terminating equipment for nonvoice circuits • Install equipment such as backboards, relay racks, central processor unit, trunk cards, line cards, and station cards to provide the desired number of lines and stations. • Program electronic key systems/PBAXs with desired features to meet customer requirements • Conduct operational tests of completed installations of all stations. • Demonstrate and explain features and proper operation of telephone instruments to subscribers • Use standard handtools and a variety of test equipment • Other duties as assigned **Qualifications** • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and (2) years of Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOiP) technical support and (2) years experience in day-to-day operations of the VOiP telephone system, including infrastructure wiring or • High School degree and (5) years of Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VOiP) technical support and (5) years experience in day-to-day operations of the VOiP telephone system, including infrastructure wiring or • Degree must be from an accredited college or university • Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and perform all functional duties independently * Must have the 1 or more of the following IT certifications or the industry equivalent: • BICSI Installer 1 (INST1) Certificate • BICSI Installer 2, Copper (INSTC) Certification • BICSI Installer 2, Optical Fiber (INSTF) Certification • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise • Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking • Additionally, must maintain a minimum of IAT Level II certification • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government personnel, and other stakeholders • Strong team player, interpersonal skills, and good judgment • Relevant technical certifications a plus SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Secret security clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
