Successful completion of EMT – Paramedic program or graduation from related allied health sciences program or one (1) year related experience. Passing score of 80% or higher of UTMB’s arrhythmia test. **JOB SUMMARY:** To provide specialized advanced technical skills in all technical aspects of the telemetry monitoring system. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** + Operates and troubleshoots all functions of the telemetry monitoring system: + Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system. + Adjusts alarms. + Reviews trends and alarms. + Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge. + Accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift. + Orders monitoring supplies. + Obtains and documents rhythm strips per unit/department standards + Maintains logbook on all monitored patients. + Provides precise continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic Central Station: + Interprets EKG rhythms. + Recognizes significant EKG events. + Communicates information to the responsible individual within an appropriate time frame. + Immediately reports significant or life-threatening changes to a RN. + Participates in orienting and teaching of nursing staff, physicians and students as related to monitoring equipment. + Assists with maintenance of unit equipment. + Performs daily quality checks of freestanding cardio-defibrillators. + Maintains a safe environment: + Ensures that equipment has current electrical and maintenance inspections. + Reports all malfunctioning equipment. + Provides age-appropriate interaction and care as indicated. + Uses aseptic techniques and infection control measures in performance of duties. + Recognizes patient care priorities, treatment plans, objectives, and potential crisis. + Respects and supports patient / family rights. + Practices positive guest and peer relations. + Participates in and supports quality improvement activities. + Demonstrates acceptable productivity and practices cost containment. + Functions as an interdependent and supportive team member. + Participates in and promotes the development of self and others. + Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. **MARGINAL OR** **PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:** + Perform related duties as required. **SALARY RANGE:** Salary commensurate with experience. **WORK SCHEDULE:** Part-time Nights **Equal Employment Opportunity** UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law.
