Academic Year Internship Program:

Pitch, report and write news and featuresPitch, shoot and edit packaged video pieces for social media platforms in conjunction with the Digital staff and on-air reportersIdentify opportunities for interaction on social media platforms with live conversations between reporters and story sourcesCut video from linear shows for use on websites, apps and social mediaIdentify opportunities for graphics and data visualizationShadow digital editors, TV producers, assignment desk editors and othersAssist with social mediaNews writing experienceIn-depth understanding and use of producing vertical video for platforms like Instagram and TikTokProficiency in video editing software like Adobe PremiereKnowledge of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Requirements:

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 – August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for the Summer 2025 Program.Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (June 2025 – August 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Must be available to work 16-24 hours per weekBilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbalMust be willing to work in Washington, DC

Desired Characteristics:

Desired Backgrounds Include: Journalism or Broadcast Journalism, Digital/New Media Studies, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Production, English, Social Media, Research.

Previous internship experience or on-campus involvementAbility to work effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadline pressuresStrong written and oral communication skillsAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsStrong interest in and demonstrated knowledge of current affairsExcellent computer skills (especially search skills)

The hourly rate for student interns is $17.50
