The ideal candidate delivers excellent customer service, has experience in television production, and is passionate about making an impact. Responsibilities for this role include: non-linear video editing, television motion graphic and effect design, video acquisition, concept and script development, setting up and operating live television equipment to produce and broadcast public meeting coverage, community-based programming, emergency information updates, and automated television master control operations.The pay starts between $25.70 - $27.00/hr, benefits begin within 60 days of hire, and there are opportunities for advancement. About the PositionIn this role, you will...
Follow department and county government procedures, policies, directives, and guidance.Ensure actions are aligned with the county’s vision, mission, values, and goals.Provide excellent customer service in each task and/or assigned project whether for internal and/or external use.Participate in training as necessary or prescribed to stay up-to-date on communications skills, trends, strategies, and tools.Video Production
Video acquisition using professional-grade cameras (e.g., Panasonic AG-HPX300).Adobe Creative Cloud suite operations.Non-linear editing.Video motion graphic and effect design.Develop concepts, scripts, sets, and all other necessary elements to produce video segments and programs that effectively communicate information about local government and county initiatives for broadcast and social media use.Broadcast Video Equipment Operations
Set up and test broadcast audio/visual equipment prior to live and recorded productions.Operate television equipment, including: cameras, production switchers, audio mixers, lights, character generators, record/playback decks, software applications, and other associated equipment to produce government access television programs, including public meetings and studio and field productions.Master control operations, including: generating and monitoring automated television programming schedules; signal validation and routing; and satellite feed acquisition.General studio and equipment maintenance.Monitor broadcast signal quality (on-call required).Research/recommend purchasing options for broadcast hardware/software.Basic design/programming of software-based A/V equipment.Audio/Visual Support and Consultation
Provide staging, presentation, and PA support.Provide cost-effective video production solutions.Internal and external customer service, including: fielding questions from members of the public about Access Sarasota and scheduling production shoots and A/V support with internal customers.About the ScheduleWork Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On-Call is required for this role. Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communications, Film, or a related field.
-OR- Significant related experience in Public Communications and/or television production.
Valid Florida driver's license by hire date.

Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.
