Temp Part-Time After School Substitute Group Leader
**Description** After-school programing through Wediko New York helps students develop skills like communication, cooperation, and empathy while supporting their social-emotional growth including ways to manage their emotions, building healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions. As a Substitute After-school Group Leader, you will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity in this supportive programing, maintaining safety in the classroom, and ensuring that students' learning experiences remain uninterrupted. The After-School Substitute Group Leader will, as needed, be called in to assist with facilitating engaging activities with groups of 10-15 children (grades PK-5) in following areas: + Arts + STEM + Phys Ed + Social Emotional Learning/Leadership Shifts may be available Monday through Friday from 1:50pm to 5:30pm in accordance with the NYC DOE calendar.(The Home does not operate when schools are closed or on early dismissal days.) Work will be available when regular staff call out at one of our three locations (Bronx and Manhattan). Placement could be short-term or long-term, meaning 1 day a week or 5. This position also has the potential to become a regular school year position, meaning every day after-school, if an opening becomes available. The salary range is $19-$22 an hour. **How You'll Be Making a Difference** + Assist in the facilitation of educational, enrichment, sports, and arts activities for groups of 10-15 Elementary school students using establish lesson plans + Based on the focus of the staff who call out, substitutes need to be flexible/adaptable to daily focus/subject + Ensure the children’s safety during program hours based on The Home’s protocols + Follow program schedule as provided by Site Management + Pick up & transport students to areas/rooms as needed (climbing stairs will be required) + Engage in conflict resolution and positive behavior management practices as needed + Work closely in collaboration with the site-based team + Encourage and support the positive growth of participating children individually and collectively + Report student incidents to Site Management team + Work with 21C Program Manager to complete before the start of service the following: + Complete 15 hours of School Aged Child Care (SACC) License Training + Complete all School Aged Child Care (SACC) paperwork prior to start of job + Mandatory training sessions and meetings will be held each month outside of regular program times. **Qualifications** + At least 18 years old with at least one year of college or post high school experience + Minimum of 2 years of childcare experience with children under the age of 15 + Experience, interest, and desire to work with elementary-school aged youth + Work and/or educational experience related to child development & leadership + Knowledge or interest in youth development, group dynamics, and programming + Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, high level of patience, and ability to engage appropriately with youth while maintaining professional boundaries + CPR/First Aid Certification preferred + Bilingual Spanish preferred + **Program Dates:** October 2024 through June 2025 **Valuing Diversity** We are committed to excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion, while simultaneously creating a culture that supports those values.
