Purpose

 This position supports the academic programs of the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) as well as the academic efforts of the LLILAS partnership with the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection.

Responsibilities

Coordinate international agreements for LLILAS Benson. Maintain and track the progress of activities related to LLILAS Benson international agreements, particularly those involving the exchange of students and scholars. Represent LLILAS Benson in communication and collaboration with international partners. Review and prepare renewal of international agreements as applicable. Manage budgets related to international agreements. Coordinate LLILAS Benson administrative duties as assigned. Support LLILLAS Benson events as appropriate or as assigned. Collaborative committee work.

Coordinate LLILAS course scheduling process. Meet course scheduling deadlines as set by UT and the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA). Work with LLILAS faculty and visiting professors to plan and schedule courses for fall, spring, and summer semesters. Work with the CoLA Dean's office and the UT Registrar's office in fulfilling course scheduling. Collaborative work with other CoLA departments and other UT Colleges and Schools in cross-listing Latin American Studies courses.

Coordinate Workday appointments and the J-1 visa application process for visiting scholars and research fellows. Coordinate the travel and reimbursement of award recipients as applicable. Welcome and orient scholars upon arrival. Work with Benson librarians to support the scholars while in Austin. Inform the LLILAS Benson community of the scholars' visits. Compose correspondence in English and Spanish.

Manage program coordination for LLILAS Benson visitors. Coordinate annual travel fellowship (becas de investigacion), and visiting scholar programs, including: work with partner institutions to coordinate and publicize calls. Correspond with potential applicants. Coordinate the application and selection process. Inform applicants of their award status. Work with the LLILAS Benson Executive Director and the College of Liberal Arts on visiting scholar and research fellow appointments.

Work with the LLILAS Benson Executive Director and Grants and Contracts Specialist to track and report statistics on LLILAS Benson visitor programs. Work with the LLILAS Graduate Program Coordinator, Director of Student Programs, Undergraduate Advisor, Undergraduate Faculty Advisor, and Communications Coordinator in publicizing courses. Monitor enrollment at the beginning of each semester and submit small class exception petitions to the CoLA Dean's office as necessary. Participate in regular CoLA course scheduler meetings. Schedule final exams. Coordinate Course Instructor Survey process with faculty.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree At least 3 years of experience coordinating or administering a program. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional language fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese. Experience working in an academic program. Familiarity with UT Austin policy and/or systems for academic programs, course scheduling, and student processes, Workday, DEFINE

After the probationary period, this position has 1 remote workday, excluding Friday.
