All duties must be completed in compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations. Duties and Responsibilities: Direct Care and Rehabilitation: Design, implement, and monitor treatment and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes dealing with time loss injuries or undergoing surgical rehabilitation. Maintain electronic medical documentation for all student-athletes on a daily basis.
Coordination and Liaison: Assist in coordinating and overseeing the provision of healthcare services to student-athletes, primarily within the women’s basketball program. Coordinate healthcare services for the women’s basketball program as needed. Serve as a liaison between the Sports Medicine staff and the Strength & Conditioning staff regarding rehabilitation programs women’s basketball student-athletes and others, as assigned. Manage external accounts, including pharmacy and physical therapy, and liaise with medical practices associated with student-athlete care. Administrative and Support: Assist in the daily operations and upkeep of the athletic training facility, as needed.
PART IV: NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Less Critical Duties etc.)Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine. (5%) Minimum Qualifications: Formal Education Bachelor’s Degree in sports medicine/athletic training or a related field. Current BOC certification. Pennsylvania Athletic Training Class A Certification required by the start date. Current CPR/AED Certification for the Professional Rescuer.
Work Experience 3-5 years of progressive athletic training experience, including preventive, evaluative, and rehabilitative skills. Experience in post-surgical rehabilitation preferred
Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills) Excellent verbal and written skill Ability to interact with a diverse department, coaching staffs, and university constituencies. Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area) Proficiency in health care insurance issues and drug testing protocols. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Applicable Systems in order to track injury and treatment records of the student-athletes.
Equipment KnowledgeFamiliarity with therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Formal Education Master’s Degree in sports medicine/athletic training or related field preferred.
Work Experience Experience in a collegiate Division I, II, or III program. Experience in post-surgical rehabilitation. Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Travel required Some night and weekend hours. Must be physically fit to lift equipment, ability to lift student-athletes, heavy manipulation of athlete’s bodies for physical conditioning and physical therapy.
