GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is looking for Seasonal Laborers to join our Facilities Management Program in Cheyenne. This temporary position is perfect for someone who loves the outdoors, enjoys working with their hands, and is eager to be part of a dedicated team that keeps Wyoming moving safely. As a Seasonal Laborer, you’ll be at the forefront of maintaining our beautiful grounds and ensuring smooth, safe travel with snow removal efforts. Plus, you’ll get to work on a flexible schedule, leaving you plenty of time to explore all Wyoming has to offer!
Schedule:
+ Monday - Thursday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
+ Friday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM Enjoy long weekends while contributing to essential public service during the week!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
+ May pick up trash, mow, and provide general maintenance of the WYDOT grounds.
+ May operate vehicles, light and heavy equipment, various power tools and equipment, and supplies.
+ Performs duties in removing snow and ice from WYDOT parking lots, sidewalks, interchanges, and pedestrian overpasses.
+ Maintains and operates equipment safely and proficiently.
+ Assists skilled trades employees, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians with their assigned tasks, performs general services duties, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those with experience in construction, maintenance, and equipment operations. These are entry-level positions that require no prior training or experience.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
** Applicants must be 18 years of age
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team.
+ Willing to learn and follow directions.
+ Ability to use equipment safely.
+ Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Applicants must work the scheduled hours of Monday - Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday, 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM
+ Work may be performed both on outside grounds and inside buildings
+ Operate vehicles, light and heavy equipment, a variety of power tools and equipment
+ Individuals in this classification must be available for emergency work calls at any time, including nights and weekends
+ Climbing on an occasional to regular basis
+ Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance regularly
+ Walking/standing on cement floors regularly
+ Walking up and down stairs regularly
+ Balancing on an occasional basis
+ Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching regularly
+ Crawling on an occasional basis
+ Pushing/pulling/reaching regularly

+ FLSA: Non-Exempt
+ These are temporary positions, not to exceed 9 months
+ Applicants must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
