Temporary Research Assistant

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences seeks to hire a Temporary Research Assistant to collect Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) data of geologic samples.
Responsibilities include:
+ Mount and carbon coat valuable geologic samples.
+ Collect binocular images, SEM images, EDS spectra and maps of geologic samples.
+ Keep, maintain and organize records of lab methodologies, data reduction and analysis.
+ Obtain data necessary to support externally funded research.
+ Other duties as assigned.
This is an on-campus position. The position is available beginning November 15, 2024, and it requires a minimum of 5 hours per week; days and times are flexible.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in science-related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Laboratory experience with geologic sample handling.
Experience using Scanning Electron Spectroscopy.
Action oriented, experience with ambiguity, able to adapt to change, and demonstrated problem solving skills.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, teamwork and collaboration.
