PARK RESOURCE TECHNICIAN: $17.00/HOURResponsible for all general park maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep. + Cleaning of public facilities, including restrooms, showers, vault toilets, cabins, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc. + Operate and perform routine maintenance on State-owned vehicles, facilities, and equipment. + Provide quality customer service information and assistance to visitors. + Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies + Other duties as assigned TRAIL CREW MEMBER: $18.00/HOURThis is a position designed to maintain and improve existing trail systems on the State Forest State Park (hundreds of miles of heavily used trails throughout the park). This position is tasked with motorized trail as well as some non-motorized trail maintenance. + Crew members may work alone, but will often work in a group with other trail crew members and will be provided assistance with duties, if necessary. This position works in the backcountry on the park’s OHV trail systems. + Crew members will help trail crew supervisor with coordinating, planning, and completing trail work throughout the season on the State Forest State Park. + CPW is a customer service based agency so this position will work with park visitors, and work on trails that are actively being used by the public. + This position may be called on to assist other positions such as maintenance, rangers or visitor services at times. + Hand tools, chain saws, Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV’s), tracked skid steer/tractor, etc. will be used to complete tasks. + This is a manual labor position that requires Trail Crew Members to be able to lift at least 40 lbs., work outdoors and exposed to the elements on a daily basis. Trails range in elevation from 8,500 feet to 13,000 feet above sea level. + The park will provide some uniform items, but employees will be required to purchase other items at their own expense. TRAIL CREW -HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR: $20.00/HOURThis position will assist the park trail crew with heavy equipment operation (skid steer, mini excavator, etc.) on the park’s OHV trail systems. Completing trail work, ensuring safety of the trail crew, and knowledge of heavy equipment are the primary focus of the heavy equipment operator. This position is designed to maintain and improve existing trail systems on the State Forest State Park. + This position is tasked with motorized trail as well as non-motorized trail maintenance. VISITOR SERVICES TECHNICIAN: $17.00/HOURThis is a customer service-based position that involves working in a visitor center greeting visitors and/or may be assigned to work as an entrance gate attendant. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Specific duties include but are not limited to: + Must be at least 16 years of age. + Staff the park entrance station. + Provide information and assistance to visitors (distribute maps/ brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on State Park regulations, etc.). + Operate a cash register and computer retail system. + Sell park passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood, and other retail items. + Sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and snowmobile registrations and permits, and fishing and hunting licenses. + Answer phones and customer questions and transfer/take messages. + Photo-copy and file documents. + Collect revenue, complete shift report, and balance shift box at end of each shift. + Sell campground reservations in the computer reservation system. + Document and report visitor complaints. + Clean and perform light maintenance duties, including litter pick up. + Clean/sanitize Visitor Center displays, public restrooms and assist with special events or programs within the park. + Must be able to work weekends, shifts, and holidays. + Other duties as assigned. + NOTE: + These positions are up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration. + School schedules MAY be accommodated. + Employee On-Site Housing is available for a nominal fee. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights REQUIREMENTS: + Must be at least 18 years of age. + Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license or have reliable transportation. + Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position. + Must have or be able to attain valid current First Aid and CPR certifications during employment. + Must be self-motivated. + Must be able to work independently. + Must be willing and able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays. + Possess strong interpersonal communication skills. + Some uniform items will be provided, however employees may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
