This individual contributor role will handle oilseed samples in an analytical lab, reporting results and other pertinent information to colleagues.

 

What you will do:
 

Analyze oilseed samples using applicable Near Infrared (NIR), Gas Chromatography, and Spectrometry methodologies. Operate laboratory instruments for sample preparation. Generate timely data to assist in the calibration of scientific equipment. Properly clean NIR equipment, following prescribed guidelines to ensure accurate measurements and precise results. Complete data entry tasks with keen attention to data integrity. Proficiently use technology tools to save, transfer, and report volumes of data. Maintain accurate and legible logbooks and records. Efficiently sort samples in organized manner, visually inspecting sample to measure against criteria. Perform routine, general lab maintenance activities. Process orders for consumables ensuring that all required information is included in ordering documentation. Model our core value of safety by always utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses. Actively contribute to a safe work environment through proper handling of hazardous materials such as organic solvents, bases, etc. Routinely follow quality control protocols.

 

What you will bring:
 

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Bioscience is preferred but not required. A minimum of 1 year of previous work experience in an analytical lab is a plus. Proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams. Effective application of macros to automate tasks and assist in complex calculations. Skilled in recording and managing accurate detailed data and information. Accountability to team members by completing assigned duties through prioritization and proactively providing assistance, where needed.
