The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC), a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a faculty member in the tenure-earning rank of Assistant/Associate with expertise in analysis of large administrative datasets and clinical data from the electronic health record. The faculty member will serve as the Scientific Co-Director of the Collaborative Data Services Core (CDSC) for Moffitt Cancer Center.

The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics currently comprises 18 faculty and 30 staff engaged in a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics research and collaborations. Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular data on a large number of cancer patients.

The Collaborative Data Services Core (CDSC) is designed to facilitate research use of patient data, leveraging Moffitt Cancer Analytics Platform (MCAP), a cloud-based ecosystem of services and technologies that provides access to high-quality data and novel insights derived from those data for use in clinical and operational decision-making, cancer research, and care delivery. MCAP contains data on more than 680,000 cancer patients. MCAP is an extensive local dataset similar to real-world clinical and administrative datasets, and opportunities exist to leverage these data to improve cancer care. CDSC is a shared resource that helps drive innovation across all MCC research programs by serving as a gateway to MCC's robust data assets, spanning clinical, administrative, patient-reported, biospecimen, and molecular domains.  CDSC is also positioned to connect MCC investigators with external, population-based datasets made available through institution-based data use agreements. It is expected that the faculty member will develop deep expertise in utilizing these clinical and administrative data.

Candidate Characteristics:
•    We seek candidates who can support development of collaborative health services research (HSR), real-world data (RWD) and health economics and outcomes (HEOR) studies at Moffitt, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed publications and involvement in grant supported research projects.
•    Candidates will have extensive hands-on experience with the design and analysis of observational studies of health care utilization, cost effectiveness and patient outcomes leveraging clinical and administrative health care data. Expertise with real-world databases (such as Medicare Parts A, B, and D, MarketScan Research databases, SEER-Medicaid, SEER-MHOS, SEER-CAHPS) is essential.
•    The candidate is expected to identify and help resolve methodological issues that arise in collaborative research, and a major expectation is to engage in methodological research that will benefit the candidate’s collaborative research.

Responsibilities:
•    Provide team science collaboration to tackle a variety of cancer research projects with large administrative databases.
•    Communicate clearly and openly.
•    Build relationships with faculty and staff to promote a collaborative environment.
•    Provide scientific direction for an NCI-designated Cancer Center Core.

Credentials and Qualifications:  Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health policy, health services research, health economics, pharmacoepidemiology, or related field and relevant research training and experience.

Academic rank beyond Assistant Member will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment at the Associate Member rank requires a minimum of five years of experience at the Assistant Member level. Moffitt is affiliated with the University of South Florida and a University appointment is available in the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor as applicable. Salary is competitive with similar institutions.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled. Please be sure to attach your CV and cover letter. Questions about the opportunity may be directed to the search committee chair, Dr. Jamie Teer at Jamie.Teer@Moffitt.org.
