Posting Number: 20241156F Position Title: Tenure-track Assistant Professor – Spanish Position Type: Faculty Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/9-months Department: 140- Romance Languages & Literature Position Summary: The Department of Spanish at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2025, with a focus on Afro-Hispanic or Latin American Indigenous language and/or culture. This position is open to scholars of literature, culture, and linguistics. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: decolonial studies, the African diaspora, indigenous rights, identity, bilingualism, language policy, and sociolinguistics. Scholars whose work encourages collaboration in the Department and across the university are especially welcome.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct scholarly research and teach courses in their area of expertise, as well as Spanish language courses. Additional responsibilities include advising students and actively participating in the department’s efforts to foster a vibrant and collaborative academic community. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand or have defended their doctoral dissertation by August 1st, 2025. A history of scholarly achievement with demonstrated excellence in teaching is required, as is near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English.
