Brief Position Overview
The Developmental Math faculty member predominantly teaches Foundations of Mathematics through College Algebra courses and Contemporary Mathematics for Montana State University and Gallatin College students at Gallatin College MSU . The Developmental Math faculty member works closely with Gallatin College developmental education and workforce programs faculty to ensure course requirements and outcomes prepare students for subsequent coursework and career skills. The Developmental Math faculty member also works closely with the Gallatin
College and MSU Academic Advisors to facilitate student success. The faculty member must be able to adjust to a wide range of student preparedness and teaching situations. This position is directed and managed by the Developmental Math Department Chair at Gallatin College.

General Statement
The Developmental Math faculty member teaches developmental math courses for Gallatin College (a two-year college). The Developmental Math faculty member works closely with Gallatin College developmental education and workforce programs faculty to ensure course requirements and outcomes, prepare students for subsequent coursework and career skills. The Developmental Math faculty member also works closely with the Gallatin College and MSU Academic Advisors to facilitate student success. The faculty member must be able to adjust to a wide range of student preparedness and teaching situations. This position is directed and managed by the Developmental Math Department Chair at Gallatin College. Evaluations for this position are completed by the Associate Dean of Gallatin College.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teaches 15-16 credits per semester, (class times M-F anytime between 8am & 6pm face to face), classes can range from Foundation of Math through College Algebra and Contemporary Math.
+ Coordinates multi-section course offerings · Supervise and Mentor Non-Tenure Track Faculty.
+ Teaches non-cognitive skills and effective math study skills.
+ Ability to teach face-to-face, online only, or in a blended delivery modality.
+ Prepares and maintains online resources such as video lectures.
+ Assesses and continuously improves developmental math curriculum.
+ Collaborates with Gallatin College faculty and staff, MSU faculty and staff, students, and other constituents.
+ Serves on campus committees to improve student learning and development, foster a supportive institutional climate, and develop engaged faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related academic discipline with at least nine (9) graduate-level semester credits in mathematics.
+ Experience teaching math in a high school or post-secondary institution.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
+ Experience teaching developmental math at a university, technical or community college. · Experience teaching college-level math.
+ Experience in supervision or management.
+ Experience teaching, guiding, and motivating students with varied backgrounds, learning difficulties, disabilities, particularly at-risk and under-represented students.
+ Experience developing, evaluating, and improving math curriculum materials.
+ Demonstrated computer skills and the ability to use instructional technology such as online learning programs and platforms.
+ Demonstrated creativity and innovation in teaching, which may include the use of technology, active learning, flipped classroom, group work and real-world applications.
+ Participation in professional development related to teaching and math education; willingness to improve teaching based on research and best practices.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of current practices in developmental education.
