The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Villanova University has a wide array of existing research areas of computer engineering, including AI, computer architecture, VLSI and digital design, hardware security, post-quantum cryptographic engineering, trusted computing, system networking, etc., as evidenced by the recent multiple national and industrial grants. In addition, the College of Engineering has six research centers providing interdisciplinary research opportunities and is currently under an ambitious expansion initiative that doubles the research space with expected occupancy in Fall 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses at all levels of the computer engineering curriculum, develop new courses that align with their area of research, establish a sponsored and sustained research program, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and supervise research performed by undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students. Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field with strong engineering expertise, a strong record of high-quality publications and a potential to lead an externally funded research program, with a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. The Center for Engineering Education and Research (CEER) of the College of Engineering is under an expansion project, expanding its footprint on campus with a 150,000 square foot addition to the primary engineering building. The CEER expansion is an ambitious and forward-looking project developed through a collaborative process with input from engineering faculty and students. In addition to creating a new home for the entire engineering community, the expansion will impact and elevate every aspect of the College’s academic and student experience with improved and expanded research facilities focused on interdisciplinary connections and state-of-the-art instruction spaces for hands-on, problem-oriented and team-based learning. The project is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2024, which will ignite significant changes through interdisciplinary research and innovative teaching and learning.
In the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, our 20 full-time faculty members provide a rigorous educational experience for approximately 298 undergraduates and 106 graduate students, developing well-rounded leaders and life-long learners who aspire to achieve professional excellence in whatever field they choose. We are equally committed to the discovery, dissemination, advancement and application of cutting-edge research, as evidenced by our faculty, which includes three IEEE Fellows, a winner of the prestigious Humboldt prize, a Fulbright Distinguished Chair, three IEEE Distinguished Lecturers, one NSF Career Awardee, multiple NSF awards and a publication record to match. In the past few years, the department has successfully secured a number of national (NSF, NIH, etc.) and local industrial (L3Harris, Delta Information, etc.) grants. In return, our dedicated teacher-scholars enjoy a work-life balance and family-friendly programs that forge a sense of community.
