Posting Number: 2022976F Position Title: Tenure-Track Faculty in Transportation Engineering Position Type: Faculty Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/9-months Department: 202-Civil and Environmental Engineering Position Summary: Villanova University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in transportation engineering starting in the fall 2023 semester. The department is looking for a highly qualified and energetic individual who will complement and strengthen our outstanding faculty. Candidates with expertise in the areas of: human factors, autonomous and connected systems, resilient infrastructure design, traffic/transportation safety, risk and reliability of engineered systems, smart mobility, and data analytics are highly encouraged to apply. The position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor as determined by the qualifications of the candidate.

The College strives to be widely acknowledged as a premier program known for our outstanding pedagogy and curricula, international opportunities, personal attention to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and a commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion. The CEE Department has 18 full-time faculty members (13 tenure-track faculty and 5 teaching faculty), including 7 female faculty. There are approximately 230 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students enrolled in the B.S., M.S. (both Civil Engineering and Water Resources/Environmental Engineering), and Ph.D. degree programs.
The CEE Department is highly committed to research and the pursuit of scholarship. Department faculty annually produce over $2M in research expenditures and collectively publish about 20 papers in refereed journals and another 20 in refereed conference proceedings and other venues each year. Scholarship is performed in a highly collaborative environment. CEE Faculty have multiple collaborations with departments and units across campus, including interdisciplinary efforts in the College of Nursing, the Department of Geography and Environment, and all departments within the College of Engineering. The CEE Department and College of Engineering have built excellent infrastructure to support scholarship, and laboratory facilities such as the Transportation Simulation Laboratory and GIS Laboratory are available for multi- and cross-disciplinary work. The College of Engineering is also expanding its footprint on campus with a 150,000 square foot addition to the primary engineering building, the Center for Engineering Education and Research. This expansion will allow space for the continued growth of the college by providing abundant graduate student offices and laboratory facilities, in addition to state of the art classrooms and collaborative learning spaces.
