Job Description This is a TEST REQUISITION! G ENERAL P URPOSE To direct the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards governing long-term care facilities to ensure that the highest practicable level of care is provided to the residents. Q UALIFICATIONS • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long-term care facility and/or demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills • Must be able to maintain good staff relations and employee moral • Good human relation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly • Must be at least 18 years of age • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English • Must be capable of performing the E SSENTIAL J OB F UNCTIONS and P HYSICAL AND S ENSORY R EQUIREMENTS FOR A LL F UNCTIONS necessary to meet job duties STANDARD REQUIREMENTS · Support the Mission, Values, and Vision of NHS Management, L.L.C. and the facility. · Knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere, which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment. · Report to Management immediately all instances of abuse, neglect, misappropriation/handling of resident property, or other concerns such as inadequate staffing, etc. · Support, cooperate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for: a. Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. b. Maintain confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data. c. Comply with all Quality Assurance and regulatory requirements. d. Comply with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from harassment, and all illegal and discriminatory behavior. · Support and participate in common teamwork: a. Cooperate and work together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment. b. Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. c. Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns. d. Promote positive public relations with residents, family members, and guests. e. Complete required in-service training. f. Follows policies for acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned. · Will comply with all company policies and procedures regarding HIPAA Privacy and Security, the company's Code of Conduct, and any other Corporate Compliance and Quality Assurance program requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS A. ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS 1. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest, ensuring a positive, calm environment throughout the facility. 2. Ensure that each resident receives the necessary nursing, medical and psychological services to attain and maintain the highest possible mental and physical functional status. 3. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, maintain, monitor and supervise and direct all facility departments and overall operations, including programs, activities, policies, procedures, and implement changes as necessary. 4. Assist department directors in developing and using departmental policies and procedures and establish rapport among all departments. 5. Interpret and ensure compliance with all facility policies and procedures by all employees, residents, families, visitor, government agencies and the general public. 6. Plan, develop and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program. 7. Identify problems and deficiencies and develop and implement appropriate plans of action to correct deficiencies. 8. Implement and maintain effective marketing and public relations programs. B. PERSONNEL FUNCTIONS 1. Recruit, interview, hire and maintain competent personnel to supervise and direct the activities of the departments 2. Supervise and direct department directors in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining and terminating personnel to maintain and ensure an adequate staff of qualified personnel at all times. 3. Supervise and direct department directors in scheduling department work hours. 4. Maintain proper documentation and records on all personnel in accordance with applicable regulations. 5. Delegate administrative authority, responsibility and accountability to other personnel as deemed necessary to ensure performance of all assigned staff positions. D. BUDGET, PLANNING & INVENTORY FUNCTIONS 1. Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide information to the facility’s' governing board. 2. Assist in the establishment and maintenance of adequate accounting systems. 3. Keep abreast of economic conditions and situations and make adjustments as necessary. . 4.Approve and authorize purchase of food, equipment and supplies to ensure adequate quantities are available to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the facility and its residents and to ensure a clean and safe environment for the residents. E. RESIDENT’S RIGHTS FUNCTIONS 1. Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect. 2. Ensure that all personnel know and comply with Residents’ Rights rules. 3. Monitor services to ensure that residents’ needs and rights are met. 4. Ensure that timely notice is given and strictly followed for resident discharges and room and/or roommate changes. 5. Review and maintain written records of all resident complaints and grievances, the action(s) taken to resolve and the current status of the complaints and grievances. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Interact with residents, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies / personnel, etc. under all conditions / circumstances. 2. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, staff, visitors, etc., under all conditions / circumstances. 3. May be subject to frustrations in meeting work demands due to frequent interruptions. 4. May be exposed to infectious waste; diseases, conditions, etc, including exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours. 2. Ability to lift, carry, push, bend, reach, grasp, perform fine manipulations, etc., necessary to perform job duties. 3. Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and government agencies. 4. Ability to remain calm under stress. 5. Ability to distinguish odors. 6. Obtain annual TB skin test, if possible, and flu vaccination (Arkansas required). Any other duties as assigned Requirements
