Test Automation Lead

As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for embedding test automation practices within our agile environment. You will lead and mentor a focused team of test automation engineers within a dynamic agile environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong collaboration and a passion for quality. You will work closely with other developers and technical product managers (TPMs) to ensure the seamless integration of testing throughout the software development lifecycle. Your role will involve owning the test infrastructure and framework, developing strategic testing approaches, and maintaining documentation and best practices for initially focused on Gherkin and Cucumber. Additionally, you will champion the adoption and refinement of behavior-driven development (BDD) methodologies to enhance collaboration and software quality.

Promoting Reusability and Modularity: Designing test scripts and components that are reusable across different tests and projects, reducing duplication and maintenance overhead.

Integrating with CI/CD Pipelines: Implementing tests that run automatically as part of the continuous integration and delivery process, providing rapid feedback to the development team.

Optimizing Test Performance: Continuously monitoring and improving the performance of test scripts to minimize execution time without compromising accuracy or coverage.

Fostering Collaboration: Encouraging collaboration between developers, testers, and product managers by using BDD methodologies to create a shared understanding of requirements.

You'll have...

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or related field.
  5+ years of hands-on experience in developing and implementing test automation frameworks and tools, with a strong understanding of integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using technologies like GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  2+ years of experience utilizing Gherkin and Cucumber for BDD.
  1+ years of experience with the Rust programming language.
  2+ years of UI software development experience.
  Proven experience in developing test strategies that emphasize scalability, maintainability, and efficiency.
  Demonstrated expertise in mentoring and leading a team of automation engineers.
  Proven experience profiling and improving test automation performance.

Master’s degree in engineering or computer science or related field.
  Experience with other programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  2+ years of experience with embedded HMI development (React Native, Android, Qt).
  Proficiency with CI/CD tools and practices.
  Proficient working in Linux and macOS environments. 
  Proficient with version control systems, such as Git, and Agile development methodologies.

What you'll do…

Lead the design and implementation of test automation frameworks with a focus on Gherkin and Cucumber and Rust. Integrate test automation processes within the development team, working closely with developers and TPMs. Own and manage the test automation infrastructure and framework, ensuring efficiency and scalability. Develop and implement strategic testing approaches that align with development goals and enhance software quality. Maintain comprehensive documentation and promote best practices for using Gherkin and Rust Cucumber. Lead the adoption and refinement of (BDD) methodologies within the team and champion the adoption of BDD in the larger organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure testing is embedded in the development process and supports continuous delivery. Optimize test performance by improving test scripts and integrating with CI/CD pipelines. Develop and maintain automated test scripts that ensure comprehensive test coverage of software applications. Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation on test design, architecture, and automation processes. Create proof of concepts for innovative test automation solutions. Participate in system design, documentation, and testing, ensuring testability is considered at every stage. Work in an agile team of automation engineers, software developers, technical product managers, and leads. As needed, hire, mentor, and lead a small team of test automation engineers, fostering a collaborative and quality-focused culture. By implementing efficient processes and robust automation practices, ensure the team's size is optimized, allowing for high productivity and impact with minimal resources. Create automated tracking dashboards showing current quality metrics.
