Test Engineer Job Description The Test Engineer is responsible for working within the Test Engineering organization to develop and improve all areas of the functional end-of-line test and in-process testing systems within all manufacturing operations locations. This includes performing statistical analysis of existing test parameters to improve first-time product acceptance and product defect detection capabilities. This also includes the improvement and repair of mechanical/electrical design features, developing and specifying calibration routines, and troubleshooting electrical controls and hydraulic system related problems. The Test Engineer may also recommend new test equipment and controls/data acquisition solutions that include cost and implementation timing details. Qualifications + A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering with at least one year of experience with automatic transmission processes. + General knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, hydraulics, electronics and computer software. + A basic understanding of the operational theory and principles of operation of automatic transaxle/transmissions is required. + Familiarity with common instrumentation testing equipment and data acquisition and control systems required. + Experience programming real-time applications such as PLC and LabVIEW. + Experience with electronics and automation. + High level of analytical ability required, where problems are unusual and difficult. + Must be able to prioritize assigned tasks, and accurately estimate the time and costs required for project completion.
