Job Description

The Test Engineer is responsible for working within the Test Engineering organization to develop and improve all areas of the functional end-of-line test and in-process testing systems within all manufacturing operations locations. This includes performing statistical analysis of existing test parameters to improve first-time product acceptance and product defect detection capabilities. This also includes the improvement and repair of mechanical/electrical design features, developing and specifying calibration routines, and troubleshooting electrical controls and hydraulic system related problems. The Test Engineer may also recommend new test equipment and controls/data acquisition solutions that include cost and implementation timing details.

QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering with at least one year of experience with automatic transmission processes.General knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, hydraulics, electronics and computer software.A basic understanding of the operational theory and principles of operation of automatic transaxle/transmissions is required.Familiarity with common instrumentation testing equipment and data acquisition and control systems required.Experience programming real-time applications such as PLC and LabVIEW.Experience with electronics and automation.High level of analytical ability required, where problems are unusual and difficult.Must be able to prioritize assigned tasks, and accurately estimate the time and costs required for project completion.Hard SkillsStatistical analysisMechanical design improvementElectrical design improvementCalibration routinesTroubleshooting electrical controlsTroubleshooting hydraulic systemsTest equipment recommendationCost and implementation planningSoft SkillsProblem-solvingCustomer interfaceCoordination with production operationsAdherence to quality management systemsJob Type
