Title: Test Engineer

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning, control, and automation products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance. CTCT is seeking a Test Engineer who performs testing in the lab to support the validation of its products including environmental, electrical, firmware, and capability testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for executing EVT, DVT, and PVT tests per the provided test plan and industry specifications.
Responsible for monitoring and recording the performance of devices under test.
Responsible for documenting test setup and results
Responsible for creating product test setup as defined (harness, loadbox etc.)
Responsible for requirements analysis and test plan generation and maintenance.
Responsible for creating and executing component-level DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report)
Responsible for holding test plan review
Responsible for developing validation procedures for component testing, extended life tests, test to failure and overstress tests.
Responsible for analysis of test data during EVT, DVT and PVT phase. Comparison to product requirements.
Accountable for developing test hardware required for testing. This includes new product test fixtures, loadboxes, harnesses, or general setup related items.
Responsible for analyzing data and creating test summaries and validation reports.
Develop and execute test plans and test cases for firmware validation.
Perform manual testing of firmware using a variety of test tools and techniques
Collaborate with the firmware team, system engineers, hardware engineers, controls engineers, product support, and others as necessary to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware issues.
Analyze test results and provide timely feedback to the firmware team.
Skills & Experience Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
3+ years of lab validation and product testing experience
Requires a cross-functional aptitude
Strong mechanical skills
Good understanding of embedded systems and firmware testing methodologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in developing and executing test plans and test cases for mechanical, electrical, and firmware aspects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Office applications
MS Excel (Google Sheets) - statistics, simple data analysis
Word (Google Docs) - construct test plans, test reports
PowerPoint (Google Slides) - convey design ideas and presentations:
Knowledge of running scripting tools for test automation.
Ability to travel to external labs to support testing
Experience in test automation and frameworks
