Test Engineer II
Job Description

The primary role of the Test Engineer involves the design, build, implementation and maintenance of automated production test equipment for testing Variable Frequency Enclosed Drives and Panels. Test equipment is a critical part of the production process that ensures products are assembled correctly; thus, ensuring a high level of quality for the customer.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

· Design and commission new test equipment for drives and printed circuit boards

· Support new product introduction into daily production as part of a cross functional team

· Independently debug/update/modify and maintain software and hardware in test systems

· Ensure product and process quality using quality tools and metrics

· Interact with R&D, Quality and Manufacturing Engineers during new product introductions and as part of continuous improvement initiatives

· Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding test capabilities, production planning, and other considerations to facilitate production processes

· Analyze and apply statistical methods to test data for quality improvements

Background & Skills

Basic Minimum Qualifications Required:

· Bachelors’ Degree (BSEE) or Masters’ Degree (MSEE) in Electrical Engineering, or alternatively in Test Engineering or Computer Engineering

· 3-5 years’ experience in design and development of test equipment in a production environment

· Experience with data acquisition, automation systems (PLCs, etc.) and control panels

· Experience with test software, especially NI LabVIEW and TestStand

· Experience with a programming language such as C++ or C#

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with variable frequency AC drives, Regeneration and AC motors preferred

· Experience in creating Electrical CAD drawings is a plus

· Work experience or educational background in Power Electronics preferred

· Experience or education in object-oriented programming (C#, JAVA etc.) is preferred

Other Aspects

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, customers, assemblers and the general public

· Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Ability to work independently, take initiative and look for solutions

· Able to work in teams where sharing valid information is an essential aspect of daily work
