The development of modern Naval/Radar systems requires a multi-disciplinary approach in which the functional concept, the mechanical, the electronics, the electrical and cooling infrastructure are addressed simultaneously. In this multi-disciplinary team, the working area consists of the development of new mechanical concepts, introduction of new technologies and development of new Naval Radar and Combat systems. Within the Mechanical and Electrical department also the Environmental Competence Centre (Thales-ECC) is located. The Thales-ECC is a team of approximately 15 FTE’s. All the activities have very dynamic character. You will have to develop and yourself to become familiar with these activities. This
knowledge center is specialized in the Climate, Mechanical and Electromagnetic Compatibility environmental requirements. Besides a group of engineering experts, the Thales-ECC has its own accredited test laboratory (ISO17025). For the Thales-ECC department we are looking for a:

About the job
Your prime job responsibility is to take care of the preparation & execution of tests & analyses. You will realize this by having meetings with internal en external customers. Understanding their needs and translate this into proposals. You will advise customers to define a test plan before testing. You specify the required tests to meet the needs of our customers. You will prepare, build up and perform the
tests in line with the final test plan. You will analyze all of the test results and translate it into a report. In case the measurements are requesting it, you will need to communicate this with customers and analyze and discuss the situation.
In some cases, tests will take place 24/7. Mostly these tests can take place without your physical presence, however for certain tests it might be the case that your presence is needed at the ECC. So, from time to time consignment is part of the Job. In a number of occasions test are performed on location of the customer, traveling and overnight stays could occur.
Also changes in international test norms needs to be recognized and analyzed and possibly implemented into our tests.
Thales-ECC work conform the ISO17025. So, you will need to read and understand the rules and process. Thales-ECC has therefore its own handbook in line with this ISO.
About you
• Requested education is MBO with technical background (senior vocational education).
• Willing to study an learn all aspects of mechanical and climatically testing on Thales products as well as products from other companies.
• You are pragmatic and like to work with your hands as well doing computer work
• You are able to translate requirements towards a test program of the product.
• Enthusiastic, dynamic, pro-active and committed
• Good communication skills; you speak Dutch and English and German proficiency is an advantage.
• You are a team player and considers it a challenge to runs test programs within tide timeframes
• You are prepared to work on consignment periods
• You are prepared to travel
Level of responsibility: 7/8 depending on education backgrounds and working experience.
