Test Engineering Technician

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Test Engineering Technician to join our team in South Milwaukee, WI!

The hourly range for this position is $27.50 - $32.00 per hour. Relocation assistance will be provided to those living more than 50 miles away from the work location.

The core hours are 7 am - 3 pm. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times.

What you’ll do:

The Test Engineering Technician is responsible for collaborating with cross functional teams to support business and financial goals by developing and maintaining manufacturing automation and test systems. 

 

In this function, you will:
 

Lead troubleshooting activities on malfunctioning production machinery, equipment, and software. Must be capable of effectively solving problems in the manufacturing environment while abiding by all applicable safety regulations and policies. Assist with maintaining spare parts inventory and obsolescence planning for replacements.Support the commissioning of new manufacturing machinery and software including installation, debugging, validation testing and communication of changes.Support cross functional root cause and failure analysis teams. Applying critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills to resolve issues and prevent them from reoccurring.Assist Test Engineers with reviews of test equipment specifications and compliance. Testing types includes but not limited to AC/DC dielectrics withstand test, TCC timing test, partial discharge test, and system/sub-system level functional test. Develop, document, and implement test processes and methods. Support electrical safety process improvement activities, such as performing risk assessments and maintaining documentation. Support production operations through creation of standard work and Continuous Improvement activities. Support maintenance of equipment and cable management.Complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications: 

High school graduate or GED is required from an accredited institutionMinimum of three (3) years of experience testing, troubleshooting and/or maintaining electrical testing equipment.Experience interpreting schematic drawings.Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.


Preferred Qualifications: 

Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls, Automation, or similar related field of study OR equivalent (2 year) Military ExperienceWorking knowledge of NFPA 70, 70B, 70EWorking knowledge with National Instruments LabView and PC based I/O systems and programming languages such as: VB6, VB.Net, C#, SQL, Ladder Logic (various suppliers)

 

Skills:

Computer proficiency using Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel and PC based test equipmentMust have strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with other functional areas. Ability and willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.Ability to assist in process creation and standardization.
