Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world’s top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Test Technician to join our Transportation Technology team in our Kentwood, Michigan office. What are we looking for?
The Technician is responsible for supporting the Test Engineers in the set up and execution of product testing for outside clients.

What you’ll do:
+ Prepare and setup test samples and test equipment.
+ Operate equipment and perform testing in accordance with approved test plan.
+ Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards.
+ Perform calculation and analysis of test data.
+ May draft test reports.
+ Maintaining and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
+ Maintain lab facilities.
+ Assist with training entry level technicians.
+ May make recommendation regarding the interpretation and applicability for specific test standards.
+ May communicate with clients regarding general project inquiries, updates, etc.
+ May assist with test plan creation and/or method development
+ May adapt procedures and equipment to meet department needs.
+ May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
+ Perform other work as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of directly related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or directly related technical field.
+ Experience with Transit / Package Testing using ISTA Standards.
+ Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
+ Mechanical Aptitude - Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
+ Problem Solver - Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions
+ Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment - Hard worker, Self Starter, Organized, and Eager to Learn
+ Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
+ Must be quality-focused and customer driven
+ Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
