Test Technician, Senior

As an advanced role in Creation Technologies production department, the Senior Production Tech, Test, Senior (DL) performs complex technical activities on the production floor, drives innovation, and ensures compliance
with highest quality and compliance standards. This senior position requires extensive technical knowledge,
leadership in solving technical problems, and a tactical approach to enhancing plant manufacturing processes. The role is central to mentoring level 1 and 2 production techs and fostering a culture of excellence. It’s designed for
experienced professionals aiming to leverage their expertise to influence significant enhancements, optimize operations, and implement systematic improvements on the production floor. This role is responsible for complex test functions and is instrumental in business unit success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:

Engages in the setup and operation of advanced manufacturing equipment to existing specifications, ensuring optimal performance, continuous improvement and adherence to safety standards.Handles advanced production tasks and solving complex problems with innovative solutions as necessary, ensuring compliance with quality standards and that products meet process specifications and standards.Provides support in basic daily and weekly appraisal and rudimentary maintenance of equipment and tools necessary for the electronic manufacturing processes.Demonstrates expert knowledge of electronics processes and assembly, with an ability to fully interpret technical documentation effectively.Executes and critiques new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with Subject matter knowledge as needed. Assigns SOPs to production Tech 1 and Tech 2s as appropriate.Leads complex technical issue resolution, applying critical thinking to overcome challenges effectively.Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, sharing insights and influencing long-term objectives and technical excellence.Supports the integration of new technologies and systems into manufacturing processes, enhancing efficiency and product performance.Leads cross-functional teams in process improvement initiatives, fostering collaboration and innovation across departments.Conducts advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving, providing expert-level technical support to the manufacturing team.Leads projects or sub-projects under the broader scope of manufacturing programs, coordinating with engineering teams to ensure on time delivery.Support the implementation of training programs for new technologies and processes, ensuring staff proficiency and operational excellence.

Test Tech Specific:

Performs advanced assembly, testing and technical support on the production floor. Actively participates in optimization of testing procedures.Performs test equipment setup, verification, troubleshooting and in-house calibration, ensuring repeatable outputs and reliability.Engages in the daily maintenance of test equipment. Leads the Identification of improvement opportunities to ensure product manufacturability in alignment with product specifications.Actively participates in the refinement of testing protocols, ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliable test results.Assists the test engineering team with the implementation of test strategies in production, ensuring alignment with product specifications and customer requirements.Coordinates with test engineering team to integrate testing requirements early in the introduction process, enhancing product reliability.Contributes to the advanced troubleshooting and calibration of test equipment, enhancing the precision and reliability of test results.Participates in the advanced analysis of test data, identifying patterns and making recommendations for process improvements.Collaborates with engineering on the enhancement of test documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with standards.Mentors’ junior technicians in advanced testing techniques, fostering a skilled and knowledgeable testing team.Analyze electronic and electromechanical assemblies to determine cause of product defect to include circuit analysis, part identification diagnosis and replacement of defective components to bring product into specification.Analyzes repeat failures, that appear to be clearly component related, to determine if changes in test program parametric should be recommended up to Test Engineering to pursue with the customerProvides advanced training and support to other technicians in the use of test equipment and execution of test procedures.Resolve advanced Debug escalations to root cause. Approves Complex SMT package (LGA, uBGA) repairs identified through the debug efforts of less experienced troubleshooters.Read wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Required Experience

High School Degree, GED or military training experience with a focus on vocational skills. College Diploma (2 Year), with relevant coursework in electronics and manufacturing processes or equivalent industry and/or military experience preferred.Minimum of 5+ Years of progressive experience in electronics manufacturing, with a proven success record.

Skills Required

Expert-level proficiency in electronics manufacturing processes, reading schematics, and technical problem- solving.Knowledgeable about IPC 610 Standard and J-STD-001.Leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop technical teams.Strong tactical and strategic thinking, planning abilities, capable of driving innovation and process improvements.Effective oral and written English communication and collaboration skills.Capable of influencing decisions and presenting complex information clearly.Advanced project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and ensure optimal resource allocation.Effective understanding of Lean principles, six sigma and industrial ergonomics preferred.Can work effectively with PLM, MES, and CMMS systems.Proficient in using Computer systems and knowledge of CAD/CAM and programming preferred.

Working Conditions

The working environment is generally clean; however, this position may be exposed to occasional dust, metals/solder occasional exposure to high noise levels from operating machines or physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts. The employee must wear designated PPE where required. Otherwise, office/business casual attire is appropriate.
