Job Description
This position involves performing skilled repairs and modifications on all electronic and electro-mechanical systems and components found in transit light and heavy rail vehicles. The role requires working independently according to accepted trade standards, supervisory direction, and company-established procedures. Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical and electronic systems, as well as providing on-site trouble assessment and adjustments for revenue vehicles.
ResponsibilitiesFollow a pre-established schedule to test and adjust electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems found on transit vehicles, including propulsion, train control, pneumatic supply, brake control, air conditioning, annunciation, communications, door control, lighting, and auxiliary electrical supply.Troubleshoot and perform primary performance verification on these systems, removing and replacing components as required to meet manufacturer specifications.Record all findings accurately in Test Reports for inclusion in Car History Books for each completed vehicle.Perform modifications to rail vehicle electronic and electro-mechanical systems as directed by engineering and supervisory staff.Collaborate with engineering and other production staff regarding modifications.Use diagnostic test equipment and precision measuring devices; fabricate new testing equipment as needed for new components and systems.Perform secondary dismantling and repair of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.Verify the performance of new or modified systems or equipment.Work closely with transit vehicle mechanics to troubleshoot problems and perform primary repairs.Read and interpret diagrams, engineering drawings, manuals, schematics, and work orders.Measure, test, and inspect completed work to confirm adherence to specifications.Document work performed, including parts and materials used, and follow specified safety procedures.Essential SkillsTroubleshootingElectricalMechanicalAdditional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in a light rail or aviation environment is desired.Experience with low and high voltage (VDC), medium voltage (VAC), and relay logic.Proficiency in the use of test-related equipment such as digital multimeters, pneumatic gauges, and current probes.Ownership and maintenance of a basic hand tool set.Experience with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and pie tapes.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
This position operates in a warehouse/production environment where the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The role requires exposure to manufacturing areas where safety protocols must be followed.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00
