Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. **Job Summary** :
As a **Test & Validation Technologist** for the Facilities Engineering & Operations Support Team, this role is to maintain facility systems supporting engine testing and battery development. The focus of the position is system troubleshooting and identification of root cause failures, to schedule and perform repairs as needed, order and maintain inventory of parts, and document maintenance and repair of facility systems. The incumbent will be responsible for leading Facility Service Requests (FSRs), which are unique designs that adapt facility systems to the device under test (DUT) to achieve the desired result.
This position is at Caterpillar’s North American Global Engine Development Facility located at the Mossville Technical Center, Building L. The building is 336,000sq/ft, providing 101 testing locations for engines and battery development. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining facility systems supplied to these test locations, working closely with other facility staff members to verify and validate system functionality and process control.

+ Assisting to resolve issues regarding design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness
+ Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
+ Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost-effective.
+ Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.

**Troubleshooting Technical Problems** : Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

+ Documents common hardware, software and communications problems and likely resolutions.
+ Troubleshoots typical technical problems in a specific area.
+ Works with vendor-specific diagnostic guides, tools and utilities to discover application problems.
+ Adheres to standard troubleshooting procedures to ensure effectiveness of resolutions.
+ Participates in setting evaluation standards and criterion for troubleshooting.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
