The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of todays and tomorrow’s power grid.
The Power Distribution Business Test Lab Leader will be responsible for managing the testing laboratory, ensuring that all testing activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power distribution systems, laboratory management, and quality assurance, along with leadership skills. This position is based on-site in Wendell, NC.
You will make in impact with the following duties:
Laboratory Management: Oversee the daily operations of the testing laboratory, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with established protocols and standards. Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and workflows to optimize testing processes and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ANSI). Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, tools, and personnel, to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of test results. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all testing procedures comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and accreditation requirements, safety standards, and customer specifications. Implement and maintain a robust quality assurance program, including regular audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Investigate and resolve any technical issues or non-conformances, or deviations in test results, and implement corrective actions as needed. Develop and maintain a robust quality assurance program, including regular audits, calibration of equipment, and proficiency testing. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of laboratory technicians, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, safety, and continuous learning. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs to enhance team capabilities. Ensure that all team members are adequately trained and competent in their respective roles. Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to the laboratory team, ensuring that all testing procedures are conducted accurately and efficiently. Stay current with advancements in testing methodologies, technologies, and industry trends, and implement relevant improvements as needed. Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and production teams to support product development, troubleshooting, and quality improvement initiatives. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and review technical reports, test results, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and customer requirements Maintain comprehensive records of all laboratory activities, including test results, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance data. Communicate test findings, recommendations, and laboratory performance metrics to management and stakeholders.You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements. Experience with high-voltage testing, protective relay testing, and power system analysis tools. Familiarity with statistical analysis and data interpretation. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
