This position requires the ability to enforce, administer and teach the policies, procedures and systems necessary to consistently receive and process high quality textile products in the most efficient manner while supporting the demand from external customers and Knoll manufacturing lines in order to meet sales, on-time and cost objectives for both Cut and Applied Textile businesses.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical textile support for internal manufacturing plants, Customer Service, Purchasing, Sales Coordinators and Sales Representatives.
Coordinate, maintain and publish fabric physical testing to meet requirements of KnollTextiles and ACT (Association of Contract Textiles).
Conduct fabric inspections for new fabrics in development. Make independent decisions about color & dye lots, finishes, defects & characteristics and rejection process. Maintain color standards in conjunction with mill.
Investigate and help resolve all claims and returns from internal and external customers, process chargebacks to mills.
Assist and lend textile guidance to Quality Assurance Representative during fabric inspections.
Perform textile training for Sales Representatives as needed.
Collaborate with Design team.
Manage application testing and approval database.
Initiate and manage ECN’s (electronic change notice).
EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma required, BS/BA preferred, Textiles degree a plus
3 -5 years’ experience in a technical textile discipline
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Understanding of the textile manufacturing process from fiber to finished fabric.
Strong verbal & written communication.
Must be able to effectively articulate technical issues with internal and external customers as well as textile mills.
Ability to work in a team environment to coordinate materials, textiles & production groups to meet customer requirements.
Good organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
