GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, this position will be responsible for sharing information with all departments to quickly meet internal and external customer needs. Ensures the timely and accurate planning, completion, and documentation of textile application testing, ECOs and related data maintenance.  Maintain communication and collaboration with the manufacturing team to anticipate and troubleshoot textile application issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Communicate and coordinate graded textile/leather additions or discontinuations with the supply management, warehouse, and inventory teams.

Facilitate and document application testing results for COM, COL and graded textiles/leathers.

May adopt or develop procedures, processes, and techniques to meet the requirements of the position.

May send out routine written and verbal communications to internal and external customers in support of department objectives and activities.

Process ad-hoc written and verbal requests for information/data from internal department customers and external contacts that are of a more complex nature.

Professionally handle communications with external customers, sales or customer service teams and redirect messages or direct callers to another party as needed.

Provide expertise and support for new textile development with a focus on product application and quality.

Work efficiently in various business systems and coordinate updates to application charts, specification tools, price books and ERP/MRP systems.

Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency

Skills and Abilities

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to follow-up and perform with minimum supervision.

Ability to understand upholstery patterns and their usage to gain maximum fabric yields.

Experience with pattern matching techniques and practices.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools currently being used in the HMI office environment.

Demonstrated ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

Strong time management, multitasking and process management skills.

Customer service focused.

Ability to understand various Product Options.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as dispatch list, shop orders, and CAD drawings etc.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as yardages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Strong interpersonal, problem solving and reasoning skills are required to ensure effective communication with internal customers.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Additional Skills and Abilities

Experience with fabric cutting, sewing or upholstery in a furniture manufacturing or similar environment required.

Knowledge of textile types, manufacturing processes, finishing and backing is a plus

Experience with automated fabric cutting equipment and software is a plus.
