Texture Artists at DNEG create photorealistic textures and other related maps or images for mapping onto 3D objects. You will be creating images to a high level of realism as part of the model and shading set up, from scratch, from reference source photography, whilst reference paintings, reference books, and architecture.
You will work closely with the other members of the build department, and become fluent in our in house software packages.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate photorealistic textures for CG creatures, hard-surface models, and environments.Collaborate with upstream and downstream departments to achieve desired look.Participate in dailies, providing feedback and design solutions.Ensure high-quality output while meeting deadlines.Must haveMinimum 4 years of high-end feature film VFX experienceFull working knowledge of Photoshop, Mari, Adobe Substance 3D or similar paint packageStrong visual skills, and a good eye for detail, scale, composition, color and formsGood knowledge of how the texture painting work fits into the bigger picture, particularly in relation to modelling, shading, and look developmentExperience with linux, windows and mac operating systemsUnderstanding of VFX pipelines and texturing's role in photorealism.

Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 to $100,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
