TFTJ Lead Operability Engineer
Job Description SummaryThe Operability Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes to develop and qualify gas turbine engine systems. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of increasing complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. You will perform and provide leadership in engine operability analysis and support the senior staff in long-term planning, data analysis, field analysis, operability presentations, analysis of operability stacks and contribute to the overall business strategy in advancing the state of the art for Engine Operability.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Leverage your experience in Engine Operability for new products introduction (NPI), performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions

Utilize the latest thermodynamic modeling tools and techniques to analyze engine performance data and make program recommendations

Improve state of the art with respect to gas turbine thermodynamic modeling techniques

Work cross functionally with Performance, Systems, Aero, Heat Transfer, Controls, and hardware design engineers to accurately assess Turbofan engine Operability

Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

Contribute independently in projects

Support senior engineers in defining the state of the art in Engine Operability to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities

Provide Engine Operability engineering support to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives

Lead efforts to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes

Provide analysis of data using Operability tools

Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company

Support technical program manager when appropriate

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Systems Engineering

Desired Characteristics

Prior engine qualification and/or certification experience

Demonstrated experience with gas turbine engine test support and analysis

Demonstrated experience in engine thermodynamic modeling

Demonstrated experience with industry modeling tools including NPSS

Familiarity with high level programming languages (C++, PYTHON, R, etc.) 

Strong analytical skills and knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamics

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems

Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
