TH CTS In Service Educator II **Position Summary** Under the direction of the Nurse Educator, to ensure the education of staff at all levels of direct patient care in the Nursing Department, to identify learning needs and deliver appropriate curriculum. Education includes workforce training, continuing education and general orientation. The primary goals of all training are to contribute to competency of the nursing staff and enable them to provide patient care in accord with regulatory statues, and enable personal growth. Candidate will receive limited/moderate direct oversight. **Duties of an Nurse Educator may include the following but are not limited to:** + Identifies and collaborates with the In-Service Educator to address new and continuing education needs of the staff. + Assist with the instruction for the implementation of the nursing assistant certification program. + Participates in training of new employees to the Division of Nursing. + Maintains course outlines, teaching materials and attendance records for selected educational offerings. + Revises curriculum objectives and content in response to new policies/standards, procedures, equipment. + Teaches classes for all levels in the Nursing Division. + Identifies learning needs, prepares educational plans and develops curriculum to meet those needs. + Collaborates with Quality Assurance/performance improvement initiatives. + Participates in staffing orientation. + Supervise and assess staff. + All other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** + Possession of a license to practice Nursing in the State of New York. + Two years of post-licensure experience to include one year in a supervisory role in a Skilled Nursing Facility. + Bachelors Degree in Nursing Science. In Lieu of a BSN, Diploma in Nursing with 5 years post licensure experience in Nursing. + One year of clinical or didactic teaching experience. + Strong oral and written communication skills. **Preferred Qualifications** + Masters Degree in Nursing Education **Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application** **Posting Overview** **:** This position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. **Special Notes:** The Long Island State Veterans Home is a tobacco-free environment. Tobacco products are strictly prohibited anywhere on our 25-acre campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises. **Essential Position:** This position has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. This means that when the Long Island State Veterans Home is faced with an emergency, employees in such positions are required to remain at their work location or to report to work. The LISVH is a 24/7 skilled nursing facility. As such, all positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary to meet the operating needs of the facility. The use of Vacation or Personal Leave accruals during the first 6 months of employment will not be authorized unless prior approval has been granted by Human Resources. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. _Prior to start date,_ the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from the Long Island State Veterans Home Employee Health Department, clear a background investigation, submit three (3) written references, and provide a copy of the required license(s)/certificate(s).
