*** Do Not Apply on this Website***See Application Instructions Below*** The City of Wadsworth Electrical Design Technician / Electrical Substation & Signal Technician Wadsworth seeks applicants for two positions Electrical Design Technician The City of Wadsworth is seeking applicants for the position of Electrical Design Technician. This position works under the supervision of the Electric Engineer to prepare and produce electrical engineering designs, schematics and drawings for construction and maintenance projects. The Electrical Design Technician will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and diagrams, creating electrical layouts, providing technical support during project implementation, and ensuring that designs meet safety codes and standards. The selected candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain same within six months of hire, along with a driving record, which will permit insurance under the city’s insurance policy; and any combination of training and experience that would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed in the full job description. Examples of acceptable qualifications may include technical school, college and/or work experience in AutoCAD; or training in general construction, electric utility, substations, and transmission and/or distribution. Electrical Substation and Signal Technician The City of Wadsworth is seeking applicants for the position of Electrical Substation and Signal Technician I/II. This position works under the direction of the Substation Supervisor to assist with and perform intermediate level work of the electrical substation and traffic signal job requirements. The technician constructs, operates and maintains substations and traffic signal systems. Work may be performed from an aerial bucket truck or from the ground or inside electrical vaults. The technician will work on and around energized and de-energized direct current and alternating current systems up to 138 kilovolts. A full job description is available here. The selected candidate will be hired as a technician I or II, depending on qualifications. Minimum qualifications include: + Technician I — Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the state of Ohio with the ability to remain insurable under the city’s vehicle insurance policy and an acceptable driving record as deemed by the City of Wadsworth; at least 18 months of work experience in transmission or distribution line systems or a combination of work experience in maintenance electrical technician, relay technician, traffic signal systems and inside electrical wiring disciplines; or at least 18 months of work experience in traffic signals and the ability to complete training in substation programming. + Technician II — Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the state of Ohio with the ability to remain insurable under the city’s vehicle insurance policy and an acceptable driving record as deemed by the City of Wadsworth; completion of Substation Technician Certification program with at least a Level I certification; completion of International Municipal Signal Association Work Zone and Field Technician courses with at least a Level I certification; and at least four years of work experience or a combination of work experience in a maintenance electric technician, relay technician, traffic signal systems and inside electrical wiring disciplines.
