*** Do Not Apply on this Website***See Application Instructions Below*** The Town of Bedford Associate Operating Line Crew Superintendent The Town of Bedford is seeking applicants for the position of Associate Operating Line Crew Superintendent. This position performs complex technical and administrative work supervising the installation, maintenance and repair of electric transmission and distribution lines and related facilities, metering systems, substations and stop light systems; as well as other related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of the Operating Superintendent and General Manager. This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the installation, maintenance and repair of power lines and related transmission and distribution system facilities, substation maintenance; maintaining records; preparing reports; implementing and maintaining safety policies and work habits; and more. The selected candidate must have a thorough knowledge of practices, methods, equipment and tools used in electric line construction, maintenance and repair work, as well as substation maintenance and switching; thorough knowledge of occupational hazards connected with the work and necessary safety precautions; thorough knowledge of the electrical system, facilities and areas served; ability to plan and supervise work of crews; ability to train subordinate workers to perform emergency service; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to prepare and maintain records and reports; and ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Candidates can have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable, extensive experience in the construction and repair of electrical systems, managing employees and safety practices and procedures. Candidates must possess an appropriate CDL driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as appropriate flagging, CPR and A lineman credentials and certificates.
